What is a statement?

An EFPT statement is a short text written by the participants of a working group concerning psychiatry and training, This text is the result of collective thoughts and ideas, and has to express the working group’s opinion on the subject they have been working on.

It is structured like a recommendation for the interest of all trainees. That is why it must be short, clear, and not too restrictive.

This text, at the end of the working group, is presented by one of the working group participants to the other delegates.

After discussion, and if the Forum globally agrees with the idea of this text becoming a statement - which means that the text states a consensus inside the Forum - a vote is taken.  If the majority of the Forum accepts the statement it becomes an official EFPT statement.

The statements are used to promulgate the opinion of the EFPT Forum to relevant bodies, at a national or at a European level (such as UEMS).
