What is EFPT?
INTRODUCTION
The European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT) is an independent federation of psychiatric trainees associations. The EFPT is officially recognized by the European Board of Psychiatry and European Board of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The Federation will serve psychiatric trainees in all branches of psychiatry all over Europe.

MEMBERSHIPS
Only European psychiatric trainees associations can became member of the Federation. A psychiatric trainees' association shall be considered an organization or part of an organization, where the absolute majority of individuals are psychiatric trainees. Full membership can only be obtained if the applying organization has been a Candidate at least one year during the two previous years. If the member association don’t attend two consecutive meetings they loose their voting rights.
The current full member countries (21 countries) and the former members or former candidate countries of EFPT are to date 2003 (with the year of joining EFPT) :
Austria (96), Belgium (93), Bosnia-Herzegovina (06) Croatia (98), Czech Republic (98), Denmark (93), Estonia (98), Finland (93), France (95), Germany (93), Greece (94), Hungary (99), Ireland (93), Israel (98), Italy (95), Luxemburg (97), Macedonia (98), Netherlands (93), Norway (93), Poland (97), Portugal (93), Romania (97), Russia (07), Slovak Republic (05), Slovenia (98), Spain (95), Sweden (93), Switzerland (93), Turkey (00), United Kingdom (93). Croatia, Czech Republic, , is expected to be full members 2008. Norway, Belgium and Slovak Republic is expected to be candidate members 2008.
ORGANISATION
The EFPT (European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees) is the first international organization of specialist trainees in any branch of medicine. "The European Forum for all Psychiatric Trainees" is the annual meeting of EFPT, with two representatives of each country, if possible, one training in adult psychiatry and the other in child and adolescent psychiatry. It is the highest authority and decision making body of the Federation. The Executive Board (EB) of the Federation is elected at the Forum by the Full Member organizations present. It consists of the President, the Secretary General, the Treasurer, IT-secretary and the CAP officer. The office period of the Secretary General and the Treasurer starts after election at the Forum and finishes at the next Forum. The office period of the President starts one year after election. It is preceded by a one-year preparatory period ("Next EFPT President") and followed by a one-year advisory period ("Immediate Past EFPT President"), during which she/he serves as a Liaison Officer to the President in charge. Every annual meeting a controlling committee is voted for and are in office one year.
