2006 EFPT FORUM - WORKGROUP ON THE EFPT WEBSITE REPORT

EFPT Newsby U. Volpe (Naples, Italy) and R. Klotins (Riga, Latvia)

EFPT Website Workgroup Report
This workgroup, first explored the newly released EFPT website (www.efpt.eu). The new html platform allows a higher level of interactivity and transparency. A debate about the audience we should refer to lead us to state that our target should encompass both EFPT members and people outside EFPT (such as other medical trainees, EU officers, people who just want to have information about the Federation, etc.). In order to have a website which would be both effective and informative, the workgroup decided to have separate sets of pages: those for the general public and those for registered users only.

The website should represent a tool to further spread information about EFPT activities and should be properly interfaced with the exisisting EFPT e-group. By now, the content of the website is provisional and the possible contents of the website have been discussed. EFPT Constitution, minutes of previous and present meetings, and links to national psychiatric trainee associations should be included. Materials concerning the activity of EFPT workgroups should be posted on dedicated Forums. In order to ensure a democratic debate about the topics to be posted, we asked all the participants of this Forum to post all relevant materials to Olivier Andlauer (France). Within a month all the participants to this workgroup will select the materials and make proposals about contents of the EFPT official website through our mailing list. Further to group discussion the website will be updated.

Dr Umberto Volpe

PLAN for the coming year:
This is a plan proposal made from Umberto's report, my recollection of our working group discussion and the subsequent e-mail discussions

  1. Gather website materials before end of July 2006
  2. Explore website capabilities during summer
  3. Invite all EFPT and affiliates to participate
  4. Come up with structure and design proposals by end of September 2006
    1. start/splash screen
    2. public and members only content
    3. do we need a forum?
    4. set up interest group section + test it (e.g. Roberts is interested in exchange of information on changes in Eastern European psychiatric care systems and training)
    5. link to the mailing list website on yahoo
    6. ... something else? ...
  5. Implement the proposed design before March 2007
  6. Inform everybody about the changes and invite to comment
Please do comment on this report and plan as your opinion is valuable and much appreciated.

Dr Roberts Klotins

Dear Robert, Umberto and all who contributed to EFPT web page,

You created a magical web page. I really enjoyed it. Congratulation! This dream started in 1996 in Athens at EFPT forum and now really come true. I am impressed.

This is a great step forward for EFPT. I wish you success in future!

Yours,
